Things are looking good for Cyberpunk 2077 to hit its targeted release date of September 17 later this year. Today, the head of CD Projekt RED's studio announced that it's already been rated by plenty of ratings boards around the world.
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently slated to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 17, 2020, with next-gen versions in discussion as well.
Very happy to share some progress on this -- Cyberpunk 2077 has already been rated by the vast majority of rating boards around the world. https://t.co/gwUXYOXpyb- Adam Badowski (@AdamBadowski) April 9, 2020
Earlier this week, CD Projekt RED reiterated that Cyberpunk 2077 was still on track to release in September. It's easy to have doubts about that given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic around the world however, which just recently caused Sony's The Last of Us Part 2 and Iron Man VR to be delayed indefinitely from their original May 2020 release dates, as well as the closure of major trade shows like E3 2020.
Still, CD Projekt Red seems determined to make its September date. Originally set for an April release window, Cyberpunk 2077 was backed up to September 17 earlier this year, with CD Projekt Red saying it needed "more time to finish playtesting, fixing, and polishing."
The developer previously announced that anyone who purchased an Xbox One copy of the game would automatically receive a free Xbox Series X upgrade of the game for the next-gen console. There isn't a solid release date for either the Xbox Series X, or the Cyberpunk 2077 port to Microsoft's next console as of right now.
