David Hayter, the voice of Snake for much of the Metal Gear Solid franchise is returning to voice the iconic character...in a Bomberman game.
Konami announced a new patch for Super Bomberman R that will add characters from other Konami games like Raiden, Vic Viper ZERO, Ayako Katagiri, and more. Of course each guest character has "Bomber" after each of their canon names to denote the fact they are all Bomberman-ized versions of themselves.
While a sucsessful screenwriter, Hayter is probably best known for his portrayal of Solid Snake in Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid franchise. He was replaced by actor Kierfer Sutherland in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. But it looks like he's back to voicing the character in both Bomberman R and reprising the role in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The only insult is that Snake's butt in Smash Bros. Ultimate is a shadow of its former glory.
Super Bomberman R is the first main entry Bomberman game in over ten years, and the first to appear on the Nintendo Switch. A brief reboot that made the series dark and gritty was poorly received to say the least, so it was good to see the game return to its roots even if the Super Bomberman R got middling reviews.
You can find Hayter voicing Snake in the upcoming Super Bomberman R expansion, or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. For the full roster, check out our Super Smash Bros. Ultimate guide for every character coming to the game.
