Just over a year from its release date, the latest entry in the Dead or Alive series will be getting its last batch of content next month. Patch v1.22 will arrive mid-April, and as the team announced, it'll be the final DLC for Dead or Alive 6.
Posted to Twitter, the DOA 6 team confirms that patch v1.22 will add two sets of costumes, as well as bug fixes and other updates. Following that, online matchmaking, rankings, and the store will remain live, but the DLC rollout will cease.
Considering the long lifespan of its predecessor, Dead or Alive 6's comparably short run of content is surprising. The sixth entry in the series certainly had plenty of content—it launched with almost $100 worth of DLC in a massive season pass. But Dead or Alive 5 persisted through a number of developments and new versions.
Whether this indicates a new version, like 2015's Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, is on the way remains to be seen. Dead or Alive 6 was met with a lukewarm reception, and generally has trouble holding the spotlight against other titans of 3D fighting like Soulcalibur and Tekken. The sheer breadth of DLC doesn't help it escape a perception of being a money sink, either.
Dead or Alive players will still be able to play online, though. At least as fans wait to see what's next for the fighting game series, they'll still be able to brawl online, hyper-stylized sweat tech and all.
