Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2, and Off the Record Bringing Zombie Stomping to PS4 and Xbox One

Capcom is planning to release everything Dead Rising for this generation of consoles.

News by Mike Williams, .

Capcom has revealed that it will be bringing the original Dead Rising to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In addition, the company will also be porting Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising: Off the Record to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The latter two titles are already available for PC platforms.

What was a rumor started when Exophase released a list of PlayStation 4 trophies for the first Dead Rising. When the potential for Dead Rising on PlayStation 4 was reported, Capcom confirmed that the game was coming to PS4 and other platforms.

"Capcom will be bringing Dead Rising to Xbox One, PS4 and PC. In addition, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will make their way onto Xbox One and PS4. We will have more news to share soon," Capcom told Eurogamer.

The Dead Rising series has always been console-exclusive to Xbox platforms. The first Dead Rising launched in 2006 for Xbox 360. Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, a side story featuring Dead Rising protagonist Frank West, also launched on the Xbox 360. Dead Rising 3 was an Xbox One launch title and the latter three titles all eventually came to Steam.

Capcom is holding the course with Xbox exclusivity, with the upcoming Dead Rising 4 coming to Xbox One and Windows 10. The publisher confirmed that the game is a timed exclusive on those platforms.

"Dead Rising 4 on Xbox One is developed by Capcom and will be published in partnership with Microsoft. Fans will be able to play Dead Rising 4 first on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC this December. It will remain a Windows 10 exclusive for the first 90 days and console exclusive on Xbox One for one year," Capcom told GameSpot. "We've had a close and longstanding relationship with Capcom including the launch of Dead Rising as an Xbox 360 exclusive and Dead Rising 3 as an Xbox One exclusive. We're thrilled to partner with Capcom once again to help bring their ambitious vision for Dead Rising 4 to life."

No release date has been given for Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2, and Off the Record. Dead Rising 4 is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 this holiday.

It would be nice to see Case:West and Case:Zero prequels to DR2 escape 360 exclusivity too. I wonder if this will be released as a collection, if so and it is well ported I may have to grab for console. If not DR1 for PC (I played through and enjoyed DR2 on PC and have OTR bit not really played it on PC too). I want to play the Case xxx prequels but would rather not purchase on 360 (unless they have a sale I suppose but I rarely turn on the 360 to check so...)

I've put so many hours into the first Dead Rising and I've still never managed to beat it. It's supposed to be hard but I agree that some aspects could stand to be updated.
