Demon's Souls Remake Holds a Perplexing Surprise: A New Door

Hey, uh, I don't think that was there before.

The Demon's Souls remake from Bluepoint is out now, and players have been scouring through it. While the developer certainly left its own mark on FromSoftware's classic, there's a new secret that seems to be Bluepoint's own: a new door.

A mysterious door in the 1-3 area (thanks, Vaati) is hidden behind an illusory wall. It has an "open" prompt, implying it can indeed be interacted with and theoretically somehow opened.

The method is what's currently driving Demon's Souls players up the walls. Several players are congregating on forums to pool their knowledge and try different attempts. From having the Platinum Trophy (good job, by the way) to searching for obscure levers, even holding different items or wearing certain sets, few stones are being left unturned. And yet, as of this writing, no answer has surfaced just yet.

This isn't the first time Bluepoint has pulled this trick. The studio's remake of PS2-era classic Shadow of the Colossus also hid a new secret, which added a completely new object to the game. It's worth discovering on your own if possible, though if you'd rather watch a breakdown, Jacob Geller's video on Shadow of the Colossus' secret hunters is a great option.

While players have used the brand-new photo mode to peer around behind the door, they have yet to suss out what exactly is hidden back there. Hopefully the secret is uncovered soon, though I would be into another long-held mystery with some esoteric solution. The little mysteries can keep games interesting for years to come.

Demon's Souls is out now for PlayStation 5.
