The upcoming remake of From Software's Demon's Souls is coming to the PlayStation 5. It's also bringing some new items with it, as today Sony confirmed the Digital Deluxe pre-order bonuses for the remake.
Over at the PlayStation Blog is a list of the items included in the special edition of Bluepoint's remake. Alongside a pre-order exclusive Reaper Scythe, Digital Deluxe Edition owners will get a digital version of the original soundtrack and some other items. Some of these seems to be newcomers to the game, including the Ring of Longevity, two types of armor, a Ritual Blade, and various grains.
Some fans are speculating that these new items are related to enemies and could be drops, like the Hoplite Shield or an armor set reminiscent of Old King Allant. Whether we'll also be able to find them in the game without the preorder is unclear.
Also of note is the price of Demon's Souls upgraded digital version. Demon's Souls is one of several next-gen PS5 games that will run $69.99, rather than the usual $59.99. Its Digital Deluxe Edition reflects the price bump, coming in at $89.99. That's a pretty hefty price to pay for a launch game.
For some players though, it might be worth it. The early footage of Demon's Souls has looked absolutely gorgeous, as this sometimes-overlooked entry in the Souls franchise gets its due as a launch game. It really comes down to whether you're ready to slam down $90 for a video game for your shiny new PS5—for some folks, the new items just might be worth it.
Demon's Souls launches alongside the PS5 on Nov. 12, 2020.
