Destiny 2 Is The Amazing Name of The Destiny Sequel

Bungie has announced that Destiny 2 is a real thing.

Bungie has finally announced what we've known for some time now. The sequel to Destiny is called Destiny 2. No subtitle to taint the beauty there. If you play Destiny, you will play Destiny 2, so there is no need to do more than denote the full evolution that we shall witness in some halcyon future.

Look upon the logo. That bold typeface used for the "2". It calls to you, doesn't it? That's probably Helvetica. Good choice.

Destiny 2 May Launch on PC [Rumor]

Bungie has already confirmed that Destiny will mostly be a clean break. While characters are carrying over to the new title, current experience levels and gear will not be making the transition. The developer said this was required to offer up everything a Destiny sequel could be.

"We believe this is the best path forward. It allows us to introduce the major advancements and improvements that all of us expect from a sequel, ensuring it will be the best game we can create, unencumbered by the past," Bungie wrote.

At a recent investors call, Activision already admitted that Destiny would be launching some time in 2017, later clarifying that the game would come this Fall. "Full Destiny sequel in 2017 to broaden the franchise's global reach, which along with follow-on content plans, sets the stage for growth," said the company in its presentation.

Then there was last week's leak, with marketing material reportedly showing a release date of September 8, 2017. Activision has yet to confirm that release date, but it lines up with their own statements.
