Destiny 2 Reveals Cayde-6's Final Moments, Details Free Gambit Trial for All Players

Destiny 2 is at Gamescom with big reveals.

One of the big features coming to Destiny 2: Forsaken in September is a new PvP, PvE (PvPvE if you will) mode called Gambit. While Gambit is supposed to come with the Forsaken expansion, Bungie is offering an early Gambit preview for all owners of the base version of Destiny 2 on September 1.

For one day only, all Destiny 2 owners, regardless of whether they have the latest expansion or not, can try out Gambit for free. The 24-hour preview starts at 10 am PT/1 pm ET and will last for exactly 24-hours.

Gambit is a hybrid PvPvE mode where two teams race against one another to fight hordes of enemies in special, separated maps. However, as teams kill more and more enemies, they will unlock special perks including the ability to invade the other team's world. This lets them become an extra deadly spawn to their opponents.

We got a chance to see Destiny 2 at E3 2018 and came away with some specific takeaways from the Gambit preview, and while Gambit isn't Forsaken's killer app, it is a fun and exciting new PvP(vE) mode that is certainly different from anything else I've played.

Destiny 2 Forsaken is this year's big Year 2 update for Destiny 2. It is meant to serve as a Taken King style expansion, dramatically changing the game from Year 1 to Year 2. The story revolves around the death of Cayde-6 on the prison Reef. Bungie released a new Gamescom cinematic showcasing Cayde-6's last stand which we've attached below.

Destiny 2 Forsaken is coming out on September 4, 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. There's a host of new features and changes including a new Raid hub, weapon slot changes, and other quality of life improvements. Check out our Destiny 2 Forsaken Guide for more info.
