Destiny 2's Valentine's Event Lets You and Your Sweetheart Get Matching Sparrows
Guardians who loot together scoot together.
Of Destiny 2's limited-time events for real world holidays, the Valentine's Day-adjacent Crimson Days haven't really risen to the top of Bungie's annual offerings in the past. It's a lot easier, perhaps to translate a holiday that's more about getting stuff (like Halloween) into Destiny's lingua franca of loot than Valentine's Day, which is more of a celebration of your bonds. This year, though, Bungie's stepping up the saccharine levels with some unlockables that are perfect for a pair of sweethearts.
This year's Crimson Days event will run from February 11 to February 18, and as before, you'll be able to earn some candy hearts in a special PvP mode and through PvE bounties. Earn enough hearts and you'll be able to exchange them with Shaxx for 2020's special Crimson Days rewards: a pair of rosy red Exotic Sparrows that, when flown in tandem, form a hologram pattern with a heart in the center. They're almost sickeningly adorable.
The candy hearts can also be turned in for rewards from previous years' Crimson Days events, though none are quite so fit for a couple as the new Sparrows. If you and your boo are also willing to shell out a little premium currency, the Eververse will also sell a new "Heartfelt Union" emote for Silver only. It's like a cross between the corny wedding dance choreography and the Fusion Dance from Dragon Ball Z.
Crimson Doubles, Crimson Days' competitive mode in years past, is making a comeback for the week. It's a 2v2 mode where each duos' ability regeneration times are strengthened so long as they stay in close proximity-move too far away from your partner, and you'll also give your position away to your enemies.
Crimson Days should make for a nice alternative activity for season pass players who've been busy gathering up Fractaline for the latest ongoing scheme in the Season of Dawn (hey, both are probably better than spreadsheet jockeying for the Corridors of Time puzzle).
Bungie's got more news on Destiny 2, including a progress update on the Empyrean Foundation Fractaline grind and some serious rebalancing for swords, in its latest weekly update. Really though, don't you just want to watch that fun trailer with Shaxx again?
