This guide will explain what you need to do with the Wormsinger and Wormfeeder Runes in Destiny: The Taken King, as well as how to get them. Events surrounding these drops take place on the Dreadnaught, and following the steps that they give you can result in some decent rewards. As always, everything you do in Destiny is made easier with a top notch fire team, but the Wormsinger and Wormfeeder Runes are something you should be able to tackle on your own.
You can obtain the Wormsinger Rune from Hive Knights and Wizards on the Dreadnaught, which leaves this portion of the process frustratingly open ended. Spend some time on patrol, and even in the Court of Oryx, trying to get your desired drop. If you happen to be in the Hull Breach section of the Dreadnaught and see some fellow Guardians fighting Blahgrish, a Hive Ogre, put some damage on him and he might drop you a Wormsinger Rune if you don’t already have one.
When you do get your Wormsinger Rune you’ll need to return to the Hull Breach section of the Dreadnaught. From your spawn point, turn to your left and drop off the edge where the broken beams and pipes are sticking out of the ground. Once you land, turn around and look for a cave entrance. Inside and to the left will be a device that allows you to Insert Wormsinger Rune.
The second location that you can use your Wormsinger Rune is also close to the Hull Breach spawn point. When you arrive on the Dreadnaught, move forward. To the right of the pathway that leads to the Mausoleum is another cave. Go inside and turn left, passing through the hole in the wall. Move to the right wall of that room to find another device that accepts the Wormsinger Rune.
Exit whatever cave you used and you should see a message that the Hive summon a stalking party. Run to the entrance of the Cabal ship at the Hull Breach and get ready for a fight. Kill absolutely everything, as you normally would, but keep an eye out for another message that says the Hive summon their Champion! This is the Hive Ogre we mentioned previously, Blahgrish. He’s the one that you want to kill, and when you do he will drop you the Wormfeeder Rune. Also, consider using a Three of Coins on this guy since he can drop exotic engrams.
The Wormfeeder Rune will require you to kill 50 enemies on the Dreadnaught, and death will reset your progress. We found this was quickly accomplished cranking out Tier 1 Court of Oryx events, but if you are concerned that you might die, just sit in the Hull Breach spawn with a Sniper Rifle and pick targets off from a distance. You could also use the Mausoleum, but things can get hairy over there. Whatever way you go about it, 50 targets need to drop.
Once you have killed your 50 enemies you will be given a random key to one of the chests on the Dreadnaught. This will not be a chest that randomly spawns, but rather one that can only be found in a specific location. This treasure hunt is worthy of a guide of its own, which is why we created one. Visit our guide on all Dreadnaught chest locations to use your key.
That’s it, you’re now knowledgeable in Wormsinger and Wormfeeder Runes, which should be worthy of your resume, quite frankly.
