Devil May Cry Director's Next Project "Progressing Smoothly"

Hideaki Itsuno is working on something, but it wasn't ready for E3 2017.

News by Mike Williams, .

Capcom has director Hideaki Itsuno is working on something. Itsuno was the director of Devil May Cry 2, 3, and 4, in addition to Dragon's Dogma. At the end of December, Itsuno teased fans on Twitter, saying that he had a new game to announce this year.

Now he's saying that while work on his game is going well, it wasn't ready to show at E3 2017.

Many fans are hoping for Devil May Cry 5, but the game could also be a sequel to Dragon's Dogma. Itsuno's previous title, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, will be seeing a release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this Fall. That release window would be just in time for a Dragon's Dogma 2 announcement at Tokyo Game Show 2017.

Either way, there's more Itsuno goodness in our future.

I guess this'll be a pick your favourite type of thread, but I'm getting in early to say I'd love a sequel to Dragon's Dogma!

I don't think Capcom is quite ready to step into the shark infested waters of stylish action games based on nostalgia after being chewed up over DmC and RE7 doing OK but not quite the revamp they wanted for the series.

A sequel to Dragon's Dogma would be a safer bet plus mainstream console gamers are more versed in PC like games and vice versa now so it could finally find a accepting audience.

I'm hoping for DMC5, but my gut tells me it's Dragon's Dogma because DD's format lends itself to micro transactions.

As much as I enjoy DMC, I'm really wanting more Dragon's Dogma.
