For those still holding out on the eternally slept-on Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth series, there's some good news: a Complete Edition is on the way, for both PC (via Steam) and the Nintendo Switch. Their wait, however, will be a bit longer, as both versions are currently slated for an October 18, 2019 release.
Announced today during the "Future of Digimon" panel at Anime Expo 2019, Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition combines the first two Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth stories into one package. Initially told as A and B routes of the same story, you'll be able to explore both on-the-go with Switch, or in high definition at your PC.
2016's Cyber Sleuth was a quiet gem of the time. Mixing turn-based battles with a thrilling narrative mystery involving hackers and their Digimon, it was one of the best monster battling games of a year filled with them. But Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth felt like it fell by the wayside, and by the time Pokemon Go fever hit in the summer of 2016, it was lost in the fold.
Having a full collection of these games to finally dive into is compelling for all the players that missed it the first time. Also, it's on the Nintendo Switch. Considering the original two games both made appearances on the PlayStation Vita alongside the PlayStation 4, that's not a huge surprise, but "it's on Switch" is a strong enough phrase to get anyone to pay attention. We'll see more as we approach the game's release date in October.
