Heck yeah, dude! There's a new Disgaea game on the way, and it's coming to Nintendo Switch. Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny is coming in summer 2021.
NIS America's strategy RPG series Disgaea is well known for its anime aesthetic, massive amounts of potential playtime, and its big numbers. That doesn't seem to be changing with Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny; today's trailer boasted "max damage in the quadrillions" and max level at nearly 100 million.
Disgaea 6 will be using 3D visuals, a series first. It still looks like battles will be taking place on a classic grid though, so you can still expect a lot of the same strategy RPG gameplay Disgaea is known for.
The new Disgaea stars Zed, a zombie that gets stronger every time he revives. The goal seems to be leading Zed and his fellow underworld pals in a campaign against a God of Destruction.
According to the Disgaea 6 site, this entry will also have customizable settings like Auto, Retry, and Replay to make things approachable for newcomers. Super Reincarnation is also a mechanic that seems to allow fighters to return from the dead—overall, it could be a less punishing Disgaea, if you choose to use those options. If it's anything like the turn-back-time mechanics of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, it could be a welcome addition to the series.
It'll be interesting to see how this hardcore strategy RPG's number grinding and newfound approachability all melds together. Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny is coming to Nintendo Switch in summer 2021.
