Disgaea Getting an HD Remake for Its 15th Anniversary

Disgaea Getting an HD Remake for Its 15th Anniversary

The first Disgaea is getting another shot at the big time.

Today, Nippon Ichi Software revealed a few of the titles it'll be releasing in 2018. The biggest news is that Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, the first game in the strategy series, will be getting a high-resolution remake this year.

There was no footage of the Disgaea HD Remake, but it's planned for a release this Summer in Japan, according to a translation by Gematsu.

The other games announced during the stream include Liar Princess and the Blind Prince, which is a game where a monster pretends to be a princess leading a blind prince through a dangerous forest. There's also Project Nightmare, which is a horror adventure title that uses live-action video.

No platform was revealed for any of these games, but Nippon Ichi Software President Sohei Niikawa previously said that the PlayStation 4 and Switch were the company's primary platforms. During the stream, Niikawa also "clicked" on a folder of photos that mentioned "Disgaea Next Work" and "xxx Remake Project", but the Disgaea Remake is likely only a stop gap release in Nippon Ichi's plans.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
