Square Enix Teases Upcoming Characters For Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Season Pass

Operative word being "tease" in the strongest sense.

This morning, Square Enix had a Japanese pre-launch stream for the upcoming Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. During the presentation, the publisher teased the game's Season Pass, which will add six new characters to the roster. Gematsu reports that they gave players the characters' gender and which half of the franchise they came from.

The full list of characters includes:

  • Male, New (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Male, New (from older half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Female, New (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Male, New (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Female, Previously Appeared in the Dissidia Final Fantasy series (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Male, New (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)

For the character that previously appeared in the Dissidia Final Fantasy series, fans are guessing it's either Final Fantasy VII's Tifa or Final Fantasy X's Yuna. The prevailing hope is that Aranea from Final Fantasy XV is the other female character being added to the roster. On the male side, the list is too broad, but folks are still making guesses. Who do you think will be added to the roster?

The Season Pass will cost 4,000 yen in Japan, with each character being sold separately for 800 yen. With those prices, you can probably expect the U.S. price to come in around $39.99 for the Season Pass and $7.99 for each character. That's a hefty price tag, considering the Street Fighter 5 Season Passes offer the same number of characters for $29.99, but that's just speculation at this point.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will launch on PlayStation 4 on January 30, 2018.
