Today, Larian Studios announced that the full game launch for Divinity: Original Sin 2 will be on September 14. The first act of the game is currently available on Steam Early-Access.
To celebrate the launch announcement, Larian Studios released a patch to the current Early-Access build of Divinity: Original Sin 2, adding two, never-before-seen areas, as well as a companion relationship system. The studio also revamped the game’s character creation and introduces the first look at the new story in preparation for the full release.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the sequel to the first critically-acclaimed Divinity: Original Sin. The sequel looks to improve upon the first game’s classic RPG gameplay and bolster narrative freedom by letting player’s customize the background of their character whom they can choose from five playable races. Original Sin 2 will also provide more complicated narrative options by offering a system that will affect party compositions based on each party member’s individual goals and backstory.
The sequel also launches with a “Game Master” mode which will bring a classic tabletop RPG experience to the game. This system is said to be an improvement from the first game, giving players a toolbox to create their own RPG adventure.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 takes place a thousand years after the first game where players will quest to decide who will be the new god of Rivellon, and how that god will choose to use its powers.
