Doom Eternal's Director Hints at Dragons and Mech Fights in Future DLC
Hugo Martin's seemingly confirmed some pretty exciting enemies.
Just yesterday, Bethesda aired a trailer for Doom Eternal's debut story DLC, called The Ancient Gods. Later on, early concept art for the game resurfaced online, which drew a response from id Software game director Hugo Martin.
As you can see in the early concept art for Doom Eternal just below, there's dragons and mechs lumbering around in the background. So far, we've had nothing like either of these enemies to fight in Doom Eternal.

This led one user on the Doom Eternal subreddit to wonder if we would ever get to fight either dragons or mech ogres, if at all. The user specifically wondered if we'd get to fight any opponents like this in future DLC packs for Doom Eternal, to which game director Hugo Martin had a simple response: "You will."

Doom Eternal's game director Hugo Martin is actually pretty active on the game's subreddit, if you head over to his Reddit profile. He's commented on a litany of questions about the game before, and this is just the latest comment from him on a question from a fan.
Dragons and mech ogres in Doom Eternal don't actually seem that far-fetched after the recent trailer for The Ancient Gods. The trailer features a massive demon holding the Doom Slayer in the palm of its hand, and it certainly seems like we're going to be fighting deities of Doom's world in The Ancient Gods, which releases on October 20.
It's worth remembering that The Ancient Gods is just the first of two planned DLC expansions for Doom Eternal, so it's entirely possible that the dragons and mech ogres could be debuting in the second, unannounced DLC. For now though, we'll have to look forward to the Ancient Gods later this year, as well as free next-gen upgrades for current owners of Doom Eternal.
