Double Fine Joins Xbox Game Studios

The team behind Psychonauts 2 is part of the Xbox family now.

As Microsoft prepares for the beginning of the next generation, it continues to acquire new studios. Today during the Xbox E3 press conference, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty announced the next independent studio joining the Xbox family. Double Fine Productions is now a part of Xbox Game Studios.

"We are so excited to be joining Xbox Game Studios. I'm a team player. Whatever you need from Double Fine, we'll make for you," joked Double Fine founder and president Tim Schafer onstage.

Double Fine joins Ninja Theory, Obsidian Entertainment, and inXile Entertainment, who all have come under the Xbox banner in the past year. Microsoft also showed off a new trailer for Psychonauts 2, featuring gameplay from the title. Psychonauts 2 is coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 some time in 2019.
