Dragon Age 4 Reportedly Several Years Away
A long tail.
BioWare is teasing a new Dragon Age project but according to a new report Dragon Age 4 is still several years off. So maybe don't hold your breath.
If you've been following along with the BioWare blogs published by BioWare general manager Casey Hudson, you'll know that he's been giving a little space at the end of his blogs to talk about Dragon Age. In fact, his most recent blog teased some Dragon Age news for later this month, which we've all gathered means The Game Awards.
In a report by GamesBeat though sources close to BioWare say that Dragon Age 4, or the next Dragon Age rather, is still years away – At least three according to the report. This makes sense as all hands are on deck for Anthem, BioWare's upcoming live-service action game.
Following the disappointment over Mass Effect: Andromeda and EA's focus on live-service games which can presumably keep players engaged for a long time, a lot is riding on Anthem to succeed. BioWare told us as much when we spoke with them about Anthem earlier this year.
So, while Dragon Age is alive at BioWare, things aren't in full-swing just yet. And what progress BioWare did have for the next Dragon Age appears to have been scrapped. It is only the studio's passion for the IP that's keeping the series a focus for the company.
