Complete all of the side quests across all the locales Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Fallow Mire Side Quests

Most of the side quests in Fallow Mire can be completed while working on Beacons in the Dark (Quest #3) and our guide will help you to consolidate your efforts. The toughest task will be killing the demon Widris, but we can help you with that as well.

1. Holding the Mire

Quest Contact: Scout Harding
Description: Establish camps to hold the Fallow Mire.
Requirements: Begins when you arrive at the Fallow Mire.
Reward: 50 Influence and 1 Power per camp, except for the starting camp


  • Establish two camps.

You only need to start two camps in the Fallow Mire, and one of them you start with. Travel to and establish the second camp at your earliest convenience.

2. Lost Souls

Quest Contact: War Table
Description: Inquisition soldiers are missing in the marshes of southern Ferelden.
Requirements: You'll catch wind of soldiers that are missing in the Fallow Mire when you return to Haven after your first journey to the Hinterlands. Investigate the mire from the war table by using eight power to unlock the Fallow Mire for exploration. This will allow you to rescue the soldiers.
Reward: 3 Power, 1,025 XP 400 Influence


  • Go to the war table to find the soldiers.
  • Travel to the Fallow Mire.
  • Locate the Avvar outpost.
  • Open the gates.
  • Defeat the Avvar leader.
  • Release the Inquisition hostages.

There's a lot of danger on your way to the Avvar outpost, but following the main road south will allow you to complete a lot of the side quests in the Mire. When you arrive at a castle far to the south, begin to fight the undead, then take your party's advice and flee when instructed.

After entering the Hargrave Keep, kill everything in sight until you make your way to the Avvar leader, who when dispatched, will give you the Gift of the Mountain Father. From here you can release the prisoners and complete the quest.

3. Beacons in the Dark

Quest Contact: Approach the Beacon in the Fallow Mire
Description: Fallow Mire is infested with demons. Light veilfire beacons to draw them out and defeat them.
Requirements: Available as soon as you enter the Fallow Mire.
Reward: 967 XP, 200 Influence, 2 Power


  • Clear four beacons.
  • Light the beacons and defeat the demons.

There are four beacons scattered around the Fallow Mire, and their locations pop up on the quest map when you approach one of them. Have a mage light the veilfire torches mounted to the beacons, triggering an attack from the undead. Focus on killing the demonic terrors to put a fast end to each of these fights, as the remaining undead will die along with them.

4. Beneath the Mire

Quest Contact: A rune on the stone beacons scattered throughout the Mire.
Description: Decipher the veilfire runes that are inscribed on the rocks and ruins in the Mire.
Requirements: Available as soon as you enter the Fallow Mire.
Reward: 512 XP, 200 Influence, 2 Power


  • Find all four veilfire runes.
  • Recover the apostate's journal.

This quest, as well as the Beacons in the Dark, should be completed simultaneously. Look for runes on each of the four beacons, each one revealing more about the Fallow Mire. Finding all four will give you a recipe that allows you to make the Tears of the Dead tonic.

5. Cabin Fever

Quest Contact: A lost cabin key buried in the marsh.
Description: Explore the Fallow Mire to find a way inside the locked cabin.
Requirements: Available as soon as you enter the Fallow Mire.
Reward: 128 XP, 80 Influence


  • Unlock the cabin door.

Complete this while also working on Beacons in the Dark, between the third and fourth beacon. When your Search ability begins to ping, follow it to discover a key in deep water. That key, conveniently, opens a nearby cabin. Doing so will complete the quest.

6. These Demons are Clever

Quest Contact: A journal on the ground near one of the veilfire beacons.
Description: The journal suggests there is an unstable apostate moving about, and it appears he's mixed up with some demons...
Requirements: Available as soon as you enter the Fallow Mire.
Reward: 967 XP, 200 Influence, 2 Power


  • Find Widris.
  • Kill Widris.

After recovering the journal, take note of a search area that is marked on your map, just west of the veilfire beacon located at Misty Grove. Moving into the search area will bring you to some stones that are in a circular formation, allowing you to claim the landmark in the middle. From here, head west to a passage that leads to another open area, killing any foes that you encounter along the way. When you arrive at another open area, kill Widris. Being level 12 should help you with the tough fight against this foe, as she is a level 15, far higher than most opposition in the Fallow Mire. Try taking out the wraiths first to make this battle more manageable.
