While today's big Dragon Ball news in the world of gaming all has to do with the release of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Bandai Namco's new action-RPG, you should know by now to never count out the fighting spirit of Dragon Ball FighterZ—or Goku's, for that matter. Apparently, we're due for at least one more DLC character in the well-regarded fighting game, and guess what: Arc System Works is putting another version of Goku on the roster.
This time around, Dragon Ball FighterZ will be getting Goku in Ultra Instinct, a state brought on by controlling one's own emotional and physical state to the point where the mind and body disconnect. Unburdened by mental processing or sentiment, the body fights with its power unhindered. Oh, and it turns Goku's hair silvery-black and surrounds him with an aura of light. Typical stuff.
If you count the number of Gokus in Dragon Ball FighterZ by whether or not "Goku" is right there in the name, then Goku's Ultra Instinct form will join the following list:
- Super Saiyan Goku
- Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku
- Goku Black
- Base Goku
- Goku from Dragon Ball GT
When Arc System Works added Goku from Dragon Ball GT last year, Mike didn't count Goku Black in his tally since his body's controlled by the alien Zamasu. He also didn't count the fusion beings associated with Goku on the roster, which Eric Van Allen considered to be worth one-half of a Goku each prior to joining our staff.
I myself would count all of the above as one Goku each, and if you'll allow me an even looser definition, I'd say Broly and Bardock both count for one-half of a Goku. If I've tallied all of that up correctly, that makes for 9 Gokus in my book. Let's see if Bandai and Arc can make it an even 10 before support for FighterZ fades away.
Thanks, Gematsu and Ryokutya2089.
