Dragon Quest XI Gameplay Revealed, Switch Version Confirmed

Square Enix shows off the gameplay prowess of the upcoming 3DS and PlayStation 4 title.

Over the weekend at Jump Festa 2017, Square Enix showed off a gameplay trailer for Dragon Quest XI, coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. Both versions have completely different presentation elements, from the graphically impressive PlayStation 4 version to the 3DS version's split between a Super Nintendo-style 2D play screen and a 3D presentation of that same content.

Square Enix also released a trailer showing off the game's opening. It features the game protagonist and his party members, all citizens of the world of Rotozetasia. One of the few named characters is the blue-haired thief, Camus, according to Siliconera.

Dragon Quest XI is coming in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS, but Nintendo itself also confirmed that the game is in development for the Nintendo Switch via its official website. It's likely the Switch version will lean on the presentation shown in the PlayStation 4 version, but no details were given.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
