Dragon's Dogma Netflix Anime Launches in September

This is the second Capcom franchise to be adapted for Netflix.

If you're a fan of Capcom's cult classic Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, then Netflix has some pretty good news for you. A new anime adaptation of the Capcom game will be making its way to Netflix on September 17.

Right now, there's only the poster for the Dragon's Dogma anime just below to go on, which was released yesterday on July 14. This is the first material we've seen of the anime adaptation since it was first announced by Netflix and Capcom back in 2019 (which feels like forever ago at this point).

There's actually a landing page for Dragon's Dogma already available on Netflix. The description of the show reads, "Ethan set out to vanquish the dragon that took his heart, but with every demon he battles, the more he loses his humanity."

This isn't the only Capcom game that's getting the animated treatment over at Netflix. Producer Adi Shankar announced a Devil May Cry adaptation all the way back in 2018, and although that was announced before Dragon's Dogma, we've heard nothing about the adaptation since then.

Dragon's Dogma was ported to the Nintendo Switch back in April last year, and although Capcom stated that it was an "important" franchise to them, there's still no sequel on the horizon. That could be partially down to 2019's Devil May Cry 5, which director Hideaki Itsuno revealed he chose to develop over a potential Dragon's Dogma sequel.
