Dreams Early Access Starts April 16, 2019

Get creating for $29.99 and then get the full PS4 game on its eventual release.

Dreams, Media Molecules' ambitious game creation toolset for PS4, is releasing in Early Access on April 16, the developer has announced. Players who want to start creating projects can do so from this date, but this release is intended for creators and as such won't include the story mode.

For $29.99/£24.99 anyone who wants to dabble with the impressive looking tools can do so (although Media Molecule says there is a limit to the number of people who can buy the Early Access version, that limit is pretty big), and all buyers will gain access to the full game on its final release. Media Molecule isn't willing to say when that will be, but it will include the story mode that's being made in-house.

The Early Access version of Dreams includes the full tool set for creating, interactive tutorials and arcade games, templates and additional content created by Media Molecule, and access to what the community made during the Dreams Creator Beta. Early adopters will also be the first to get hands-on with new features and content as they are added.

We got an in-depth look at Dreams just before E3 2018 and came away very impressed, although wondered if we'd ever use the tools to make anything of note. Still, that's part of the charm, really. There are bound to be plenty of people who do make wonderful things, which everyone else can enjoy.
