Dying Light 2 Release Date: Zombies, Setting, Player Choices - Everything We Know

Dying Light 2 looks set to continue the zombie-killing, building-jumping madness from the first game. Here’s what we know so far.

Dying Light 2 was announced during E3 2018, and we haven’t seen much of the game since. Thanks to this year’s showing however, we have a few more details to share, and we’ll be collecting them all in this Dying Light 2 Everything We Know Guide. We’ll take a look at when Dying Light 2 is coming out, as well as how player choices and zombies will be different this time around. Dying Light 2 takes place in a very different setting than its predecessor, so we’ll be taking a look at when Dying Light 2 is set.

Release Date

Dying Light 2 was previously scheduled for a Spring 2020 release date. This is no longer the case, as it was recently delayed indefinitely by the developer.

If you’ve already caught any of the trailers for Dying Light 2, you might have noticed that it has a very different look to the first game. It’s set 15 years after it, in a locale simply called The City. Players will step into the free-running shoes of Aiden Caldwell, an infected survivor who must deal with a violent faction of humans, as well as the hordes of undead occupying his surroundings.

Chris Avellone is Writing Dying Light 2

Another interesting piece of info we have on Dying Light 2 is that Chris Avellone is writing it. He previously worked on Fallout New Vegas and is currently working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Avellone is reportedly hoping to include more player agency for Dying Light 2, with more choices available throughout the game.

Dying Light 2 Zombies

It wouldn’t be Dying Light without zombies, and Dying Light 2 goes big in that regard. In fact, the zombies of Dying Light 2 will follow a defined lifecycle. They’ll go from fast, recently infected Virals, to slow moving regular zombies and finally the night-dwelling Volatiles.

We’ll be sure to update this page as we hear more about Dying Light 2. Be sure to check back for future updates.
