E3 has been expanding beyond the convention floor and three-day window carved out for the show. Publishers have push their events earlier and earlier before the show's start, with whole hands-on showcases and separate events like EA Play and Devolver Digital's parking lot show. It looks the trend will be continuing this year as two companies have announced Sunday press events.
Bethesda has confirmed that its E3 Showcase will be on Sunday in the afternoon or evening, like it was last year. The exact time is still to be determined.
The "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" comment is aimed squarely at Microsoft, who surprised folks by announcing that its briefing would also be on Sunday. The event will start at 2pm PT / 5pm ET on Sunday, June 11. Microsoft's event is usually on the Monday prior to E3.
Given the image used, it's likely that we'll see more about the Xbox Project Scorpio console at the event. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has already said this year's show will not be led by Halo of Gears of War, promising "new experiences with different IP".
Of course, this year will be open to the public for the first time in a long time. Things are changing!
