EA Sports UFC 3 Puts Conor McGregor On The Cover

The next generation of UFC features the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion.

EA Sports announced today that UFC lightweight champion and former UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is the cover athlete for EA Sports UFC 3. The game will be launching for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 worldwide on February 2, 2018.

"Two belts, two covers – EA Sports got it right again," said Conor McGregor in a statement. "It's an honor to be on the cover and I can't wait to play the game."

This year's entry of UFC will offer the all-new Real Player Motion (RPM) tech, an animation technology aimed at delivering "the most fluid and responsive motion" in the franchise. 5,000 new animations mean more responsive fight system, allowing players to "move, strike, and create seamless combinations in-game".

EA Sports UFC also adds the new G.O.A.T. Career Mode, a full-on career experience like a number of other EA Sports titles.

"Outside of fights, players will make promotional choices to build hype, gain fans, earn more cash through big contracts and capture the world's attention. A new in-game social media system allows players to create heated rivalries with other UFC athletes, providing the freedom to take on any type of persona, between cool-headed contender or infamous trash-talker," said EA in its press release.

There are a number of multiplayer modes for UFC 3, including the fan-favorite Knockout Mode, Stand & Bang, Submission Showdown, and Fight Now Custom. There's a new Tournament Mode for bracket-style elimination rounds, offering continuous damage and fatigue for multiple fights. UFC Ultimate Team also makes a return in this latest entry.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
