Enough With These Cheeky Street Fighter 5 Costumes Capcom, Just Re-Release Haunting Ground

And Darkstalkers while you're at it.

Street Fighter 5 has announced a bunch of crossover costumes lately, but until now we haven't really covered individual costume releases. That's because Capcom is releasing a Cammy outfit based on the 2005 cult-horror hit Haunting Ground and I just really want a new Haunting Ground game.

Haunting Ground is a Capcom horror game from 2005 that follows a kidnapped woman named Fiona who wakes up after a car accident to discover she's trapped in a gothic castle. Together with her dog Hewie, the two explore the castle and work together to escape the castle and avoid being captured by the many terrifying enemies crawling around the castle.

Haunting Ground is similar in atmosphere and mechanics to the Clock Tower series, which favored hiding, intuition, and survival over combat. Although if need be Hewie can deliver a good bite when he needs to.

So why did we highlight this Fiona costume in a news post? Because Haunting Ground is great and deserves a comeback, and I'm mad Capcom keeps teasing their cult-favorite games like Haunting Ground through cheeky DLC costume releases. It also doesn't help that original copies of Haunting Ground are quite pricey (~$70 on Amazon) and HD re-releases could help deliver Capcom's great backlog to new gamers without the high costs.

The Cammy Haunting Ground costume is coming to the Extra Battle Mode on August 30. The whole crossover line of costumes has been pretty stellar, particularly the Darkstalkers costume line from March. Oh wow, another old Capcom series I'd like to see again released in Street Fighter 5 costume form. Imagine that.

Street Fighter 5 first released in 2016 to rather middling reviews. However, after years of content updates and balance fixes, Capcom appears to have brought the latest Street Fighter to a good place with Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition. You can read our SF5 Arcade Edition review here for more details on the changes and improvements Capcom's made to Street Fighter 5 since launch.
