Epic Games Store Snags Another Big Exclusive: Cult Favorite Shenmue 3

Epic Games Store Snags Another Big Exclusive: Cult Favorite Shenmue 3

Yu Suzuki's long-awaited sequel is coming to PC...via the Epic Games Store.

Shenmue 3 got a new trailer today during the PC Gaming Show. What's more, the Epic Games Store logo appeared at the end suggesting Yu Suzuki's long-awaited sequel will be coming to PC as an Epic exclusive. Shenmue 3's Kickstarter page later confirmed this.

The new trailer showed off more of the kung-fu action that underpins the slice-of-life journey of Ryo Hazuki. Ryo ventures into China to find his father's killer and along the way learns a little kung-fu to help him in his journey.

There's a very old-school quality to Shenmue 3, something fans of the series will no doubt appreciate. Despite the updated graphics, the gameplay looks like something straight out of the Dreamcast, complete with mini games, and timed action events.

As for the Epic Games Store exclusivity, the Kickstarter page has been updated with the following message from the developers:

Shenmue III for PC will be will be an Epic Games Store exclusive. Development for Shenmue III has been moving forward using Unreal Engine and the support we have received from Epic has been excellent. But most importantly, in looking for the most enjoyable experience on PC, it was decided together with Deep Silver after much discussion that the Epic Games Store would be the best distribution platform option.

Shenmue was slated to hit Steam in November, and while the Steam page for Shenmue 3 is still up, it's unclear what will happen after today's Epic Games Store news. Shenmue 3 was also recently delayed as well until November 19.
