Epic is Working on Ways to Save Your Locked Fortnite Accounts on PS4
Freedom.
Cross-platform is coming the PlayStation 4 starting with Fortnite Battle Royale, but there are some questions that remain. Namely, what about Epic Games Accounts which prior to cross-platform locked PS4 players and their Battle Royale purchases to their console. With cross-platform in sight Epic is working on a few solutions to save your Epic account on PS4.
When Fortnite first arrived on the Nintendo Switch back in E3 2018, players who linked their Epic Fortnite Accounts to the PS4 discovered that their Epic account didn't transfer over to the Switch. This required some players to create multiple accounts to play on multiple consoles.

With Fortnite coming to PS4, we've already seen that it's now possible to link your Fortnite account to both Xbox and PS4. But Epic is working on two more options to help ease players into cross-platform. First, Fortnite is working on an account-merging feature that will combine Battle Royale purchases which will be coming in November. Then there's also an unlinking option that will let players relink another Fortnite account to a console. That's coming in the next couple of days.
Cross-platform play was one of the most requested features on Fortnite (and several other games) but Sony was the lone holdout on getting cross-platform to its true potential. With the company acquiescing to popular demand however, time will tell how many other companies try and get Sony to approve cross-platform for their titles.
