Everyone is Thirsty for Overwatch's Junkertown Queen

You could be the king, but watch the Queen conquer.

When the new Junkertown map in Overwatch was first announced, the reveal trailer also included a voice over from the Queen of Junkertown as well as a shot of a throne and some kind of unique weapon. I theorized that this could be a potential new character in the game. Well, now the map is live on the Overwatch PTR and the team at Blizzard snuck in a poster that gives players a pretty good look at the Junker Queen. And players are losing their minds.

Poster of the Junkertown Queen

The poster, which has "The Queen" spray painted over it, shows a woman dressed in some punk-rock looking outfit including metal spike, face paint, and some fingerless gloves. She kind of has a Furiosa thing going on with the face paint, which is fitting considering the Mad Max influence of the Junkertown level. Oh, and also she's already very popular on Twitter.

Questions regarding the Junker Queen started appearing on the Overwatch forums after the first trailer with her voice over came out and Overwatch lead writer Michael Chu acknowledged those questions on Twitter today. And while he didn't reveal if she would be a playable character, he alerted players to her poster.

The last new character Overwatch released was Doomfist back in July. Doomfist was one of the earliest teased characters for the game, but like the Junker Queen, the first hints for the character were through his gauntlet. Just like how the Junker Queen's spear, throne, and poster are the only references to her in the game.

We'll have to see if Twitter's new favorite Queen will actually end up as a character in the game.
