In the battle for PlayStation Plus popularity, a new game has emerged at the top. Fall Guys has officially become the most downloaded PS Plus game of all time after its debut on the service earlier this month.
PlayStation confirmed Fall Guys' new status this morning on Twitter. It looks like developer Mediatonic has surpassed all of Sony's previous offerings, including the likes of Rocket League and other popular games offered for free to PS Plus subscribers.
It's not hard to see why, though. In the lead-up to launch, Fall Guys rocketed up the Twitch charts during its beta and became something of an overnight sensation. The battle royale centered around obstacle courses and wacky jelly-bean dudes trying to navigate them was a nice change of pace to the usual islands full of guns and circles, too.
Fall Guys isn't resting just yet, either. Mediatonic is set to tease something about the second season of Fall Guy content tomorrow during Gamescom Opening Night Live. It's also working on better response to cheaters, and was even hosting a charity bid war for a new in-game skin.
As for platforms, Fall Guys is still only on the PlayStation and PC. While a Switch version seems like a no-brainer, Mediatonic's only comment on the matter is on its support site, saying the company would love to bring the battle royale to other platforms "further down the line."
Mediatonic has certainly earned a place as one of PS Plus' biggest success stories. The platformer royale is currently available on PlayStation 4 and PC.
