Fallout 76 Third Best-Selling Launch in Franchise History
Behind Fallout 4 and Fallout New Vegas.
The report for video game sales for November 2018 is out now and surprise, surprise Red Dead Redemption 2 topped the charts. There are some actual surprises however, namely Fallout 76’s physical sales performance which appear pretty good considering the rather rough launch for the title.
Considering how well Red Dead Redemption 2 sold in just a couple of days, it’s not a huge surprise to learn that Rockstar’s western was the best-selling game of November, becoming the second best-selling game of the year so far. What’s more, Red Dead Redemption 2 already surpassed the lifetime sales for the first Red Dead Redemption by almost half.
Fallout 76 is the fourth best-selling game of November trailing second and third best-selling November titles Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Battlefield 5 respectively. That’s also only counting physical sales as digital sales for Bethesda published titles aren’t reported. This makes Fallout 76 the third highest launch month sales in franchise history following only Fallout 4 and Fallout New Vegas.
Without digital sales it’s hard to get the full picture for how well Fallout 76 is doing. There’s also the matter of ongoing issues like bug crashes and criticism for the in-game marketplace. Not to mention outside controversies like the matter of the Power Armor edition’s nylon bag.
