Far Cry 5 is out now and players are exploring the wide-open realm known as Montana. While the locale is not quite as exotic as previous Far Cry games, Far Cry 5 has a lot of visual heavy-lifting to do. And nowhere is that more apparent than on the Xbox One X where Far Cry 5 runs at a native 4K resolution.
According to our friends at Digital Foundry, Far Cry 5 "might just stand as one of the finest examples of 4K image quality when you're gaming with Xbox One X." That's because on the high-end Microsoft console Far Cry 5 runs at a native 3840x2160 4K resolution while keeping temporal anti-aliasing. Compare this to the 2880x1620 on the PlayStation 4 Pro or the weakest console on the graphical ladder, the Xbox One at 1440x1080.
The Xbox One X enhancements have truly proven to be more than just a simple graphical boost. Thanks to the hardware deep within the Scorpio-powered console, the Xbox One X enhancements have truly been technical achievements. You can see as much from our list of Xbox One X enhanced games that show off the console's prowess.
Based on Digital Foundry's findings, you can clearly see how clear Far Cry 5 looks on the Xbox One X, adding details to further and further distances than the PS4 Pro. The diverse biomes of Montana's fictional Hope County come into greater detail, along with greater depths to realism in everyday objects.
It should be noted however that despite the Xbox One X's clear lead in terms of graphics, the other consoles are no slouch either. The Xbox One works admirably and near-equal to the base PS4 version. And HDR works on both the Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, and PC.
All-in-all, if you have a Xbox One X and 4K TV, the answer to which console you should pick up Far Cry 5 for is clear. For more on the game, check out our Far Cry 5 review and complete Far Cry 5 guide for all the latest tips and walkthroughs.
