FIFA 17 Ultimate Team - Beat Squad Build Challenges and Take On FUT Champions

Everything you need to know about the two new features in this year's Ultimate Team.

FIFA 17's Ultimate Team mode introduces a few new features. You can complete a series of challenges and earn rewards. Or you go online to take on some of the very best players. We'll tell you all about it. For more advice, check out our FIFA 17 Ultimate Team guides and tips hub.

Beat Squad Building Challenges

Squad Building Challenges are a new way to put your team building skills to the test, sometimes to a strict time limit. One example challenge would be to build a team with eleven players whose team chemistry is at least 50 and overall score is at least 76. The numbers, and the restrictions, change with each challenge: sometimes you get less players to fulfil certain conditions. You might also be challenged to use only use players of a certain level (bronze, silver, gold) or of a certain country.

Keep in mind that the cards you use to build your team are permanently removed from your club. Don't use your best players unless you're absolutely sure. Rather, use players that you don't really need. If you haven't got anything good in stock, you can find cheap players on the transfer market - check out our guide to the FIFA 17 Ultimate Team Transfer Market for some tips on that.

The challenges are divided into different groups. You're rewarded for completing individual challenges as well as completing whole groups. You'll receive coins, card sets or exclusive shirts.

Compete with the best in FUT Champions

Another new addition is the competitive FUT Champions, which is divided into different categories. On weekdays you'll find new knock-out tournaments daily, in which you can participate. If you win one of these, you can participate in the Weekend League.

By qualifying for the Weekend League and (hopefully) winning often, your overall rank will increase. The higher your rank, the higher your chances to get good rewards. If you play really well and dominate the ranks every month, you might even qualify for live events such as the Ultimate Team Championship or the FIFA Interactive World Cup.

It goes without saying that your team should be optimal if you want to participate in FUT Champions. You need to have spent some time and coins in order to participate and play your way to the top. Handily, we've created a guide to getting the best FIFA Ultimate Team lineup.
