FIFA 19 PS4 Demo Release Seemingly Causes PSN Issues

Thousands of FIFA fans are currently unable to download the demo.

FIFA 19 is set to get a demo today, with PS4 players logging on at 7AM PT with the hopes of trying out the game before launch. Unfortunately, it seems that the high demand might have crashed the PlayStation Store, as many fans cannot access the demo.

Update: Sony has acknowledged the issue, updating its PSN Status page with the following.

Affected Services: You may have some difficulty accessing features and products in PlayStation Store. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.

PlayStation 4 just received its 6.00 update, so it's possible that this has caused the issue, but it's pretty bad timing given the huge influx of players logging on to download the FIFA 19 demo. There's been no official word from PlayStation yet, and the service status site shows all systems operational, so it's most likely a high traffic issue. Still though, FIFA players are understandably upset at being denied their first proper taste of the game.

Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon. The FIFA 19 demo has also been released on Xbox One and Origin for PC.
