FIFA 20 Release Date - Gameplay Changes, Cover Star, FIFA Volta, PC Specs

We’re right on the cusp of the reveal for FIFA 20. Here’s what we know so far.

We’re well into 2019, and it’s almost time to hear about the next iteration in the FIFA franchise. FIFA 20 will be revealed very soon indeed, though thanks to a recent blog post from EA, and some teases, we have a good idea as to what to expect from FIFA 20. In this FIFA 20 Everything We Know Guide, we’ll be taking a look at the predicted release date for FIFA 20. We’ll also detail some of the changes that are being implemented for FIFA 20, and look ahead to the FIFA 20 reveal event.

When Will FIFA 20 Release?

EA just announced a release date for FIFA 20. The FIFA 20 release date is September 27, which puts it in line with the past few years, releasing on the last Friday of September.

FIFA 20 Cover Star

Ea just revealed the FIFA 20 Cover Star. Gracing the main version of the game is Eden Hazard, and you can check out a screenshot of the box art below. The Champions Edition will feature Virgil Van Dijk, and you can see what this will look like below:

FIFA 20 Ultimate Edition Cover Star

As well as the two cover stars detailed above, there's also a brand new cover star for the FIFa 20 Ultimate Edition. France Icon Zinedine Zidane will grace the box art for FIFA 20 Ultimate Edition, and you can check it out in the image below:

FIFA 20 Volta - New FIFA Street Mode

EA just announced FIFA 20 Volta, a brand new street-based mode for FIFA 20. It looks to be a spiritual successor to the beloved FIFA Street series and allows players to customize their own footballer, male or female, and play a variety of different modes. There;s 3v3 Rush (No GKs), 4v4 Rush, 5v5 and Professional Futsal. You can check out some of the gameplay in the trailer embedded above.

FIFA 20 Gameplay Changes

In a completely unprecedented move, EA has actually outlined some of the tweaks coming to FIFA 20, before the game is even officially announced. Gameplay details were released in a recent Pitch Notes blog, covering everything from Defender AI to a change in 1v1 shooting. We’ve rounded up all of the gameplay changes mentioned in the blog, below:

  • AI Defending - Renewed Defending System, Planned Tackling, Contain and Secondary, Contain Effectiveness, Improved Jockey System.
  • 1v1 shooting Consistency - 1v1 Shooting Accuracy, Open Goal Situations, Goalkeeper Reactions, Outside of the Foot Shot, Shot Elevation/Power Tuning.
  • Timed Finishing - Green Timing Window, Timed Shot Accuracy, Difficult 180° shots.
  • Volley Crossing and shooting - Increased Difficulty and Error, 2-Player Headers, Decreased Volley Shot Accuracy.
  • Chained skill moves
  • Set-Piece positioning
  • Manual Goalkeeper movement
  • Passing - Increased Error on Difficult Position Passing, Increased Accuracy, User Controlled 'Dinked' Passes, Driven Pass-and-Go.
  • Player Switching.
  • Composed Finishing
  • Strafe Dribbling

FIFA 20 Composed Finishing

1v1 finishing has been revamped for FIFA 20. It seems to offer more realistic and clinical finishing. Volleyed Crosses and more riskier shots have the chance to have great rewards, though you'll need to right timing to pull it off.

FIFA 19 Strafe Dribbling

Another new feature coming to FIFA 20 is Strafe Dribbling. It adds a new dimension to attacking, allowing players to use speed and skill to lure in opponents and get around them.

FIFA 20 EA Access Early Release Date

On September 19, players will be able to get their hands on FIFA 20 early. This will be part of the EA Access program, so make sure you sign up when it launches to play early.

For those looking to play FIFA 20 on PC, you'll need the PC Specs. We've listed them below, minimum and recommended:

  • CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965, Intel Core i3-2100, or equivalent
  • Memory: 8GB
