Sports season is upon us, and alongside the games themselves come the athletes who grace the cover. FIFA 20 is nabbing three players for its three separate versions, and two have been unveiled today: Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard and Liverpool center-back Virgil van Dijk.
Hazard made a big move from Chelsea to Madrid in June, and van Dijk hoisted the Champions League cup with Liverpool this year, so both are apt choices.
In an interview with AP, Hazard says that American kids who play FIFA but don't follow professional soccer will see the appeal through him.
"They will for sure," Hazard told AP. "Because of me on the cover, first, and then they will see me, and then they will watch soccer."
Hazard will be on the standard edition, while van Dijk takes the cover on the Champions Edition. There is still one edition remaining, the Ultimate variation, which could still bear the visage of a Messi or Ronaldo... or even a Rapinoe if some of us here had our pick.
Either way, it's a year for FIFA 20 to show up, as PES 2020 looks to be making a play for the soccer game throne. Konami's take on soccer has signed a major deal with Juventus, as well as a non-exclusive deal with Manchester United. We'll see if FIFA 20's slower take on soccer will be enough to win out against a surging PES on September 27.
