When Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition was revealed via the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), I assumed it was just a simple Game of the Year Edition with all of the additional content since launch. "Nay!" says Square Enix today.
Royal Edition does include all of the previously released improvements and season pass content: Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto, Episode Ignis, and Comrades, the multiplayer addition, but there's more! The publisher has detailed all of the new content coming to the Royal Edition of Final Fantasy XV in a new trailer.
First up, there's a brand-new dungeon map, taking place in a expanded version of the Insomnia City Ruins. Armiger Unleashed offers a new attack style for the Armiger once you collect all 13 royal arms. There's a new boat, the Royal Vessel, letting you explore the waters between Cape Caem and Altissia. There are new bosses, including Cerberus, Omega, and the Rulers of Yore. Royal Edition also features a new first-person camera and new gear.
Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on March 6, 2018. Screenshots from the Windows Edition page on the official website also point to that version containing the Royal Edition content, but we've reached out to Square Enix for clarification.
