Final Fantasy 7 Remake's Box Art is a Callback to the Original
Don't fix what ain't broken.
It might be a full-on remake, but that doesn't mean the new version of Final Fantasy 7 is past making some references to its past. That includes its box art, revealed today, which is a direct callback to the box art of the original Final Fantasy 7.
Revealed today on social media, Final Fantasy 7 Remake's box art once again shows Cloud gazing up at Shinra HQ, massive Buster Sword displayed across his back. It's a neat reference and certainly nostalgic, though with the update, everything looks much sharper and cleaner compared to the original box art design. It's still a pretty timeless image.

This isn't the first callback to the original Final Fantasy 7 that the Remake has made. The E3 2019 trailer hid a nostalgic snapshot of the original 7th Heaven inside the revamped bar. Even the gameplay is retaining some classic Final Fantasy feeling, implementing a turn-based mode for those concerned about playing a new take on Final Fantasy 7's combat.
The first part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which looks set to cover a large swath of the early parts of the game set inside Midgar, is coming March 3, 2020 on PlayStation 4. Keep up to date with all we know so far in our guide to Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
