Final Fantasy 7 Remake's Latest Trailer Finally Shows Us Red 13, And He's a Very Good Boy

He's a good boy, yes he is.

A new Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer dropped this morning, and I am happy to confirm that Red 13 makes an appearance and is a very good boy. I cannot wait to go on adventures with this adorably edgy fur-pal.

Appearing for just a brief moment in today's Theme Song trailer, Red 13's look for the Remake is finally shown in full. After freaking out the party by talking, Red 13 calmly tells them, "I am that which you see before you. Nothing more."

Those who have played Final Fantasy 7, or listlessly floated through a fan wiki at 3 a.m., will remember that Red 13 is a mysterious animal who was experimented on by Professor Hojo, who you can also spy in this new trailer. The red lion-like creature can indeed talk, and joins the party after being rescued from Shinra and Hojo.

My personal experience with Final Fantasy 7 is a little distant and hazy, considering I mostly watched my friend play through it over a decade ago. But Red 13 is still the absolute best—I remember loving the idea of having a talking animal companion, and RPGs since have thankfully taken the pet-pal concept to heart, as seen in Tales of Vesperia and Dragon Age Origins.

We got a little glimpse of Red 13 in a data leak earlier this year, but now we get to see him in motion. It rules. Today's trailer also features a new theme song from Nobuo Uematsu and some other tidbits for fans to dissect, as they while away the hours waiting for a demo or something before Final Fantasy 7 Remake's new release date in April.
