Final Fantasy XIV Patch Notes Detail The Final Fantasy VI-Inspired Raid

Square Enix releases a huge dump of notes for Patch 4.2.

The next patch for Final Fantasy XIV is coming this Tuesday and Square Enix has offered detailed patch notes. The full set of preliminary notes for the patch, entitled Rise of a New Sun, were released earlier today.

Like most primary patches, Patch 4.2 will add new quests to the main scenario. These quests look to be focused on Doma, with former supporting characters Lord Hien, Gosetsu, and Yugiri taking center stage. There will also be a set of new Chronicles of a New Era quests, focused on a Primal-style Trial with the god Byakko and the Omega raid. That raid will see its next wing, Omega: Sigmascape, focused primarily on bosses and encounters inspired by Final Fantasy VI, like the Phantom Train. Two dungeons are joining with this patch, the all-new Hell's Lid and the Hard version of the Fractal Continuum.

In terms of quality-of-life changes, players will get more inventory space through the Chocobo pack. For you housing nuts, new Wards are opening for every residential district, and players will be limited to only a single private and free company estate per account. The Glamour system will be simplified with a new type of glamour prism and the new Glamour Dresser. A new Performance UI allows Bards to make music on the fly. And there are new items, new emotes, and new hairstyles incoming!

The new Glamour Dresser.

All that is before you get to the balance changes for PVE and PVP play. These patch notes are huge in comparison to certain patches and are worth a read if you currently play Final Fantasy XIV.

If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
