Final Fantasy XV's Next Patch Lets Players Freely Take Pictures and Selfies

Final Fantasy XV's Next Patch Lets Players Freely Take Pictures and Selfies

Square Enix has outlined what's coming in the next Final Fantasy XV patch.

Square Enix Japan has detailed an upcoming patch for Final Fantasy XV, scheduled for release on January 24. The patch notes, translated by Gematsu, mention the addition of more Holiday Pack content and an all-new "Self-Photographing Feature". Players who have the Season Pass or Digital Premium Edition receive the Holiday Pack+ items, while every player receives the rest of the Holiday Pack.

More photos for Prompto.

The patch notes:

"Holiday Pack+" Updates

  • Moogle Chocobo Carnival opened
  • "Festive Ensemble (Noctis-only)" costume added
  • "Holiday Pack+ Exclusive" photo frames added

"Holiday Pack (Free Version)" Updates

  • Moogle Chocobo Carnival opened
  • "Choco-Mog Tee (Noctis-only)"" costume added
  • "Holiday Pack (Free Version) Exclusive" photo frames added

"Self-Photographing Feature" Implemented

The full details of the Holiday Packs can be found here. The new selfie feature will allow players to take Prompto photographs anytime outside of combat. There's no word on if this new feature will come with an expansion of the 150 photograph limit that's already built into the game. If not, I'm pretty sure a number of players are already butting against 150.

Fans are wondering where other promised patches and fixes are. The PlayStation 4 Pro patch was scheduled for release in December, targeting 60 fps at 1080p resolution, but that has yet to launch. Final Fantasy XV on PlayStation 4 Pro also has a frame-pacing issue, meaning even when the frame rate is consistent, the game doesn't look smooth. Some are reporting the issue was alleviated with patch 1.03, while others say it remains.

Square Enix does have an Active Time Report New Year Special in the works, so it's possible we'll hear more about those patches then.
