Fire Emblem Switch Revealed: First Details

Here's all the details regarding Fire Emblem on the Switch

Today's Nintendo Switch-focused Nintendo Direct finally gave fans a glimpse of the first proper Fire Emblem game coming to the Switch. Unlike Fire Emblem Warriors, this is a mainline entry into the Fire Emblem series on a Nintendo home console.

Fire Emblem for the Switch was first announced last year during a Fire Emblem-focused Nintendo Direct. It was announced then that the Switch entry would arrive in 2018, and that was confirmed in today's Nintendo Direct.

The new Fire Emblem game, titled Fire Embem: TK will TK

The last Fire Emblem game on the Switch was Fire Emblem Warriors, a warriors style game developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja. It took popular Fire Emblem characters like Marth and Chrom and replaced the game's signature strategy RPG gameplay with combat similar to the Dynasty Warrior franchise.

The last two Fire Emblem games both launched on the 3DS, with spinoffs like Fire Emblem Warriors and Fire Emblem Heroes releasing on the Switch and mobile devices respectively. Fire Emblem Fates was the newest game in the Fire Emblem series, telling two, alternate versions of the same story through two different versions of the game. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia was a full remake of the 1992 Fire Emblem Gaiden game released on the Famicom.

After a brief stall, Fire Emblem has returned as one of the biggest franchises in Nintendo's roster, with Fire Emblem characters making regular appearances in the Super Smash Bros series. Additionally, Fire Emblem Heroes is one of Nintendo's most successful mobile games thanks to its steady release of popular characters that can be won via a random draw.

Fire Emblem Switch will be the first proper new entry into the series and we'll have more details about the game before its TK release. In the meantime, check out our other coverage from today's Nintendo Direct.
