First Trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Battle Royale Mode Features Zombies for Some Reason

Okay, sure.

Activion and Treyarch released the first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode: Blackout. The open beta for Blackout begins next week, first on PlayStation 4 before rolling out to other platforms days later.

The Blackout trailer is a highlight reel that shows off the massive map and various mechanics including vehicles, weapons, transportation, and zombies for some reason. That's right, there are zombies in Blackout's battle royale, though in what capacity is unclear. It could be that they're a trap in a specific part of the map, or something else altogether.

Aside from that there's wingsuits that players can use to jump off high places, grappling hooks, and various vehicles like cars, boats, and helicopters. All this in Call of Duty's biggest map that's kind of a Frankenstein of the most popular maps in Call of Duty. So elements from Nuketown sit alongside map elements like dams and skyscrapers.

The Blackout beta begins on September 10 on PlayStation 4 before rolling out to PC and Xbox One on September 15. Treyarch will hold a Blackout livestream tomorrow on September 7 at 11 am PT/2pm ET which we'll be checking out for more details.
