Five Nights at Freddy's is Getting a Big "Triple-A" Game

The FNAF movie is delayed also.

Five Nights at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon published a new update about various Five Nights projects on Steam today where he revealed that the film adaptation has been delayed for rewrites. However, he also revealed a new Triple-A Five Nights at Freddy's game is in the works.

In a blog post on Steam Cawthon announced a Triple-A game set in the Five Nights universe that is currently in the planning stages. No details yet but Cawthon calls it a "big-budget game" that he believes fans will be excited to see. "I'm working closely with the studio involved to ensure that it delivers what (I think) FNAF fans will want to see," writes Cawthon though he doesn't reveal the studio's name.

As for the live-action film, Cawthon announced that he is rewriting the completed script in favor of a different idea that he preferred. "I take responsibility for this delay," Cawthon writes. "I'm determined to find the right story. I'm sticking to what I've always said, either the right movie gets made or no movie gets made."

The Five Nights at Freddy's movie is being developed by Halloween and Get Out production house Blumhouse and has Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' Chris Columbus attached as director.

Cawthon also revealed that Five Nights at Freddy's for VR and AR are about 40 percent and 10 percent complete respectively, while Five Nights At Freddy's: Into Madness is being worked on. Into Madness is another free game compiling various gameplay ideas like Update 2. Console ports of the original Five Nights games are also 20 percent complete and will be available for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4.

The Five Nights at Freddy's series was created when Cawthon released the first Five Nights game in 2014. Since then Cawthon developed numerous sequels and spinoffs and created a mini empire of games based around the haunted, Chuck E. Cheese-like location that is Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. The game became a viral hit and he's since released five more mainline sequels. Check out our complete in-depth look into the Five Nights at Freddy's series.
