You can play Ubisoft's For Honor for free during a weekend trial starting on August 10. This means you'll be able to access For Honor's full content during the free weekend including all five multiplayer modes, the single-player or co-op campaign, and access to the full roster of heroes that's been steadily expanding over the course of two seasons of the game.
For Honor can be pre-loaded starting today, August 7, at 9 pm PT/12 am ET so you can boot up the game when the free weekend starts on the 10th and ends August 13. Of course the free weekend is so that For Honor can make converts out of new and would-be players, so Ubisoft will be discounting the game 50 percent off for consoles between August 10 and August 20, and August 10 to August 14 for PC players. Ubisoft says that your free weekend progress will carry over to the full game if you do decide to purchase a copy of the game.
In addition, the third season of the multiplayer, "Grudge & Glory", begins a day after the free weekend on August 15, adding the Highlander and Gladiator class to the game.
Despite server issues at launch, For Honor has cultivated a pretty hardcore competitive scene. In an effort to help grow that community, Ubisoft is finally building dedicated servers for For Honor, hopefully bringing stability to the game's online matchmaking.
After recent financial reports showing just how successful Ubisoft is with online service games, the company is surely looking to capitalize on the online community that's built itself around For Honor's "Deadliest Warrior"-esque action game. It remains to be seen whether or not For Honor's free weekend will convince more new players to join the fray, but given how successful games like Ghost Recon Wildlands has proven for Ubisoft, more For Honor players would be a huge get for the company.
