Former Xbox Employee Stephen 'Stepto' Toulouse Has Passed Away

Toulouse used to be Xbox Live's head of enforcement, making sure players stayed on the straight and narrow.

Former Xbox Live head of enforcement Stephen 'Stepto' Toulouse has passed away. The news came from his brother, Jeff Toulouse, on Twitter.

For a very long time as Head of Enforcement, Toulouse made sure that Xbox Live users were on their best behavior. He joined Microsoft in 1994 and became a communications manager for the company's Security Response Team in 2002. 2007 marked his transition to his later role. During his time at Microsoft he established a number of moderation policies that are still in use today. He left the company in 2012.

Toulouse updated his blog on October 21 and he was active on social media up until October 24.

Our condolences to his family for their loss and we hope Toulouse rests in peace.

M.H. Williams is new to the journalism game, but he's been a gamer since the NES first graced American shores. Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
