Fortnite Becomes Xbox One X Enhanced With Newest Patch

If you have an X, your 4K Battle Royale future is assured.

Fortnite's latest patch features a number of changes to both Battle Royale and Save the World game modes, but most importantly, the game is now enhanced for the Xbox One X. The patch drops today according to the released patch notes.

"Fortnite on Xbox One X pushes the game's visual settings comparable to what you'd see on a PC set to 'Epic' quality," says the patch notes.

Since Epic Games is a PC-centric technology company, they even get specific about what enhancements players can expect on the Xbox One X.

"This includes better-quality reflections (including screen space reflections being enabled); higher quality post processes like motion blur, anti-aliasing, and depth of field; great draw distances; more detailed foliage; shadow casting enabled on more lights and objects; and higher resolution textures and shadows," adds Epic. "Content is rendered at 80% of 4K and then upsampled to 4K via a high-quality software upsampler. The HUD is rendered in 4K."

Another big change in the patch the Smoke Grenade being added to the Battle Royale game mode. The grenade creates a big cloud of white smoke that obscures player vision, allowing you to make a sneak attack or quick escape. The grenade can spawn randomly on floors and will be found in all container types.

Epic Games has also added new Vindertech weapons to the game. These weapons include the Blazer machine pistol, Jolter energy sniper rifle, and Slicer energy sword. They come alongside the return of Mutant Storms to the Save the World game mode.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
