Marvel announced that the music for its upcoming Captain Marvel film will be scored by composer Pinar Toprak, a Turkish-American composer and the first woman to score a Marvel film. Oh, and she's also a composer on the mega-hit video game Fortnite.
Prior to her upcoming job with Marvel, Toprak worked as a composer on Epic's Fortnite composing most of the main themes and lots of music for Save the World according to Epic Games. She's also worked as a composer for SyFy's Krypton and the Xbox 360 game Ninety-Nine Nights.
Toprak announced her upcoming work on Captain Marvel via Instagram Thursday night and thanked the directing team for the "opportunity of a lifetime." She joins composers Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones), Mark Mothersbaugh (of the band Devo), and many others as composers who've worked on Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
Captain Marvel is the first film in the Marvel cinematic universe starring a female superhero as its lead. Brie Larson will be playing Carol Danvers, a U.S. Air Force pilot who comes in contact with cosmic powers after an encounter with alien forces. The film is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and is set to release on March 8, 2019.
